Customer Reviews
My eight-year-old son received the Blizzard Maker for a gift. He was ready to jump appropriate in and get started creating blizzards but we had to get thru set up 1st and then go to the shop for half-and-half.
The DQ Blizzard Maker is merely a manual ice cream maker. Fill the basin with ice, water, and salt. Mix 3/four cup half-and-half to the powder packet (which is sugar and flavoring), pour into the middle tank in the basin, then turn the crank for 10 minutes. My son and I took turns (five minutes every single) and immediately after 1 minute, he was asking if he was accomplished but.
There is a chute at the bottom of the ice cream tank to "push" out the ice cream so it looks like it does in the retailer. Working with the chute demands removing the paddle attachment and adding a plunger attachment. We accidentally froze our ice cream also tricky, which made the plunger attachment useless when we got close to the bottom.
In spite of the name "blizzard," there is no way to mix the toppings (generic pop-rocks are included) into the ice cream applying the machine. You are told in the directions to just pour the toppings on top.
The ice cream serving cups are modest--about 1/two the size of a tennis ball. You finish up with adequate ice cream for 2 of these servings. The ice cream is fairly tasty.
We had pretty a bit of grinding as the gears slipped when we very first began cranking the ice cream. Once we got the appropriate tempo (not also rapid, but rapid sufficient to preserve the cream moving), the grinding stopped.
Honestly? It is almost certainly better to just get a manual ice cream maker...
This is a incredibly entertaining activity for kids (and adults!). There is a tiny bit of setup involved but the end outcome is worth it. Be certain to decide to purchase half half cream to add to the enclosed DQ mix. I've bought food toys before and many occasions they do not work very well. This a single essentially did work fairly properly and who doesn't like ice cream
General, we had a lot of fun primarily experimenting with all the toppings to add to the Blizzard when we were done. Fairly entertaining toy and amazing gift concept as nicely.
