Costumer Evaluations
Okay, so for starters, I am a tremendous Indy fan. I have waited a long time for an Indiana Jones action figure line with decent good quality and many characters, and because I've collected Star Wars figures forever, I basically wanted them to be this three three/four size too (granted, I prefer my other collectible figures to be 6 inches or so, but I do not generally get accessories or playsets for those). Well, with the 4th Indy film, which is way underrated in my opinion (fellow longtime fans should give it a second viewing just before deciding yea or nay I had to warm up to it myself but appreciate it now), that lengthy dreamed of action figure line finally arrived from Hasbro... to mixed reactions. I'm positive countless complaints had been about the smaller size of the figures compared to the now even more favorite 6 inch or larger action figures out there for adult collectors these days. And, let's face it, most Indy fans are adults who grew up with the original films. However, I believe what put most folks off of this new line is that lots of, A number of figures were released to stores with awful paint jobs. I mean TERRIBLE paint jobs, especially in terms of the eyes. This was most noticeable in the Raiders figures, and Indiana significantly more than anyone.
Now, in my case, I wanted to wait and make confident they produced a great deal more figures, and I wanted to see if the price tag would not go down a bit too. Figures are way overpriced these days. But, once I saw Last Crusade figures on the shelves (along with a price drop of a couple of bucks), I dived in. A handful of of those initial figures I bought I have previously reviewed, and let me tell ya, those ones I chosen had good face sculpts! Of course, with tremendous, cartoony eyes painted on some of the figures, it would positive be tricky to discover the sculpting underneath. So, combine those initial negative impressions with the fact that young kids just do not seem to "get" Indy (yeah, it was the second most significant film this past year, but the toys sat on shelves till the figures hit three bucks lately, and they're still moving slowly with a couple of character exceptions), and you finish up with the situation I am having now. I have wanted a Short Round figure to stand next to my Indy figure forever (a want carried over from my original Kenner Indy figure), and it seems those Temple figures are only going to be on the market on line now, for those of us in the states, at outrageous scalper costs considering that the initially couple of rounds of figures sold so poorly. And to add insult to injury, the Elsa and Colonel Vogel figures have been in incredibly brief supply because day 1. Man, I want an Elsa!
Anyways, as I searched fruitlessly for Elsa and the Temple figures this weekend at the significant U.S. retailer who recently cut the cost on these figures down to clearance levels, I did enhance my total collection count to 14 (hope to add a great deal more ahead of they are gone, too), as my second most important focus was on Raiders of the Lost Ark figures, which I'd purchased none of however. I ended up with a nice quantity of Raiders characters, such as an Indy with a fantastic paint job and a decent Marion also, plus the figure I'm going to talk about right here, the Cairo Swordsman.
You may well keep in mind this guy from the popular scene in which Indy responds to flashy swordsmanship with a nicely placed bullet. If you managed to get the jacketless, sweaty Indy figure (I nonetheless require that one particular myself, he's turn out to be one particular of the difficult ones to locate), set him up with the Cairo Swordsman for a great display! As I talked about just before, these figures have excellent detail, but you without a doubt have to check out the paint jobs and uncover a fantastic one. The exact same figure can appear remarkable or awful based on how the face is painted. The Cairo Swordsman is not as articulated as some of the figures. He can still be posed nicely, but with the stiff plastic of his robe, there was small point in creating his knees bend, so they just do not, nor do his ankles. He is also rather shy in the accessories department, as he only comes with his sword and secret artifact. Each and every figure comes with a distinct artifact in a paper crate, although they appear to be sized for 6 inch action figures like the 1 the Disney theme parks not too long ago started carrying.
Regardless, the Cairo Swordsman is a good Indy villain figure to add to your collection. He's not a major character, but he's from one particular of the most memorable scenes and is really nicely sculpted here. A fantastic choice for play or display as opposition to the greatest movie hero of all time!
