Product Description

Hexbug is a micro-creature toy robot inspired by BEAM technology. Hexbug has a few simple behaviors. Once switched on, Hexbug will move forward with a classic alternating tripod gait. If an obstruction touches either of the antennae, or if it detects a loud sound it will back up to the left and then continue forward. The name Hexbug, however, has more to do with the shape of the packaging it is sold in than the number of legs it has.
The crab series, which hides under dark spaces and has light and sound sensors, and therefore is able to respond to audio or light stimuli.

Durability: Educational: Fun:
My expectations were up when described as a robotic. About the same entertainment value as a three dollar wind-up toy. No, correction: a wind-up is probably more entertaining than this. Back and forth it goes, tips over on the rug, legs going cockroach style until is senses that it is upside down and stops. Hey, wait. That's what you can use this dud for - to scare the cockroaches and mice. Twenty bucks wasted. The worse part is that I got one for my eight year old grandson for Christmas. He's going to think I'm really out of touch.
