I've been reviewing quite a few of these Indiana Jones figures considering my husband and I bought a ton of them for my 8 year old's birthday.
In size they are comparable to a Polly Pockets. But that is exactly where the comparison ends. These figures are a lot more intricate. Their clothes are even more detailed, as are their expressions. Plus they have alot more moving joints.
Where they do not compare favorably is in the department of durability. EXCEPT possibly for Sullah. This a single figure feels sturdier than the rest.
As far as clothes, Sullah's are nicely detailed. His headdress and vest are 3-dimensional, and in reality, the vest could come off -- not that I'd suggest that to my son as I don't consider it would ever go back on.
Now... as to advising other parents, aunties and Et-ceteras.
This figure comes with modest accessories: a torch and shovel. I do not know about the shovel, but most absolutely the torch could be a choking hazard, so I wouldn't recommend this toy for the 3 and below set unless you grab up the smaller stuff and store it safely away.
In common I'd say that you should certainly finest judge this toy by how your youngster plays. If he's (she's) definitely a rough player, then you might do better with the bigger versions, or even the Lego Indie sets.
