I purchased this for my five year old son (even although it's rated at 6+) and it wasn't that difficult to assemble except that the pieces did not fit together well or securely. A number of times during the building process, putting a single portion on would knock one other element off (even when I did it). Then, when we got it put together, he could not play with it at all without having various pieces falling off repeatedly. We had been each Rather frustrated and I was really sorry that I had purchased it. I ended up supergluing some of the pieces on just to ratchet down the frustration factor, but of course that means it can not in fact be taken apart and place back together. I do not have a lot of encounter with megabloks, perhaps they are all that way?
